Viivi Luik (1946)

Viivi Luik on pärit Viljandimaalt Tänassilmast – just seda kanti kirjeldab ka romaan „Seitsmes rahukevad”.

Samast romaanist tunneb ära tema kolhoosis töötanud ema ja rändelektrikust isa kuju.

Imelapsena eesti luulesse tulnud Viivi Luige esimene luuletus ilmus rajoonilehes 1962. aastal.

Oma esimese luulekogu ilmumise ajal (1965) oli autor 18-aastane. „Pilvede püha” ilmus luulekassetis „Noored autorid 1964” koos Jaan Kaplinski, Hando Runneli ja Ly Seppeli debüütkoguga.

Kokku on temalt ilmunud 10 luulekogu.

Esimene proosaraamat, „Salamaja piir” ilmus 1974.

Viivi Luik on kirjutanud ka lastele: luuletusi ja populaarsed Leopoldi-lood (1974–1976).

Romaan „Seitsmes rahukevad” (1985) on tõlgitud soome, rootsi, norra, läti, saksa, prantsus

Fred Jüssi was an Estonian biologist, nature writer and photographer.
Jüssi was born in Aruba, Netherlands Antilles, where his father worked for a Venezuelan oil company. His family returned to Estonia and settled in Tallinn when Jüssi was 3 years old. After finishing high school in Tallinn he studied biology and zoology at the University of Tartu, graduating in 1958. He worked as a school teacher (from 1958 to 1960 in Emmaste, Hiiumaa), as inspector for nature protection (1962–1975), radio broadcaster for Eesti Raadio, freelance writer and nature campaigner. In Eesti Raadio he ran the program Looduse aabits (ABC book of nature) from 1976 to 1986.

Etgar Keret

Born in Ramat Gan in 1967, Etgar Keret is a leading voice in Israeli literature and film. His books have been published in over four dozen languages and his writing has appeared in The New York Times, Le Monde and The New Yorker, among others. Tõnu Õnnepalu

An Estonian author and poet who also writes as Emil Tode and Anton Nigov.

Õnnepalu was born in Tallinn and studied biology at the University of Tartu from 1980 to 1985. He began his writing career as a poet in 1985 and has published three collections of his works. In 1993 he garnered international attention when his novel Piiririik (English translation: "Border State") was published under his pen name 'Emil Tode'. The book was translated into 14 languages and became the most translated Estonian book of the 1990s. That year, he received the annual literary award given by the Baltic Assembly.
Õnnepalu's work often explores topics such as homosexuality, isolation and betrayal.

Rein Raud

Rein Raud was born in 1961 as the son of Eno Raud and Aino Pervik, both authors of popular books for children as well as novels and poetry. He graduated from St.Petersburg University (Japanese Studies, 1985) and defended his doctorate in the University of Helsinki (Literary Theory, 1994). In addition to novels, stories, poetry collections and essays, he is the author of numeorous academic publications in the areas of cultural theory and especially classical Japanese literature and philosophy, as well as a number of translations, mainly from Japanese into Estonian.

Kristiina Ehin

Ta on õppinud Tartu Ülikoolis eesti filoloogiat ja spetsialiseerunud rahvaluulele. Aastal 2004 omandas ta Tartu Ülikoolis magistrikraadi eesti ja võrdleva rahvaluule alal. Jim Ashilevi

Jim Ashilevi is an Estonian novelist, playwright and poet.

He first gained recognition with his debut play Nagu poisid vihma käes (Like Boys in the Rain) which was praised for its original juxtaposition of poetic imagery and violence — a haunting interrogation of the essence of masculinity. At just twenty years of age, the play won him some of Estonia's highest playwriting awards and positioned him on the literary map as a key voice of his generation.

He went on to publish long and short-form prose and poetry. To date, his body of work includes two coming-of-age novels, Ma olen elus olemise tunne (I Am the Feeling of Being Alive) and Kehade mets (Forest of Flesh), as well as two non-fiction books on theatre.

Édouard Louis

Édouard Louis is a French writer born October 30, 1992. Édouard Louis, born Eddy Bellegueule, grew up in Hallencourt (Somme) before entering theater class at the Lycée Madeleine Michelis in Amiens. From 2008 to 2010 he was a delegate of the Amiens Academy to the National Council for High School Life, then studied history at the University of Picardy.

Valérie Perrin
