Ito was born in Gifu Prefecture, Japan in 1963. He was inspired to make art from a young age by his older sister's drawing and Kazuo Umezu's horror comics. Until the early 1990s he worked as a dental technician, while making comics as a side job. By the time he turned into a full time mangaka, Ito was already an acclaimed horror artists.
His comics are celebrated for their finely depicted body horrors, while also retaining some elements of psychological horror and erotism.

Shaun Tan (born 1974) is the illustrator and author of award-winning children's books. After freelancing for some years from a studio at Mt. Lawley, Tan relocated to Melbourne, Victoria, in 2007. Tan was the Illustrator in Residence at the University of Melbourne's Department of Language Literacy and Arts Education for two weeks through an annual Fellowship offered by the May Gibbs Children’s Literature Trust. 2009 World Fantasy Award for Best Artist. Torices studied illustration at the Llotja-Avinyó school in his home city of Barcelona, Spain. His early comic works appeared in a number of fanzines, many published under the small imprinting Zángano Comix, which he co-founded. A recurring character in Torices strips, Cornelius the dog eventually became the protagonist of his graphic novel Cornelius: The Merry Life of a Wretched Dog (2023). Among his other books, the comic biography Cortázar (2017), written by Jesús Marchamalo.
Torices has also worked in animation, most notably directing the award-winning shorts Knockstrike, co-directed with Pau Anglada y Genís Rigol and Naive Mischief in Oak Paso. -
