Fikret Adil

(Istanbul, 1901 - Switzerland, 1973)

Fikret Adil was a journalist, writer and translator who made very important contributions to Turkish literature. He used the abbreviation of his name, Fa as a penname. He worked at magazines, newspapers and a variety of government institutions.

Fikret Adil made his name as a journalist in 1920's and 1930's. During the Second World War he worked at the American News Bureau. He also worked as a translator at the Tass and Stefani Agencies. From 1927 onwards he worked in Hungary, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Egypt, England, India, the Netherlands and Pakistan at different times. He wrote down his impressions about the places he lived, and these were later published.

Natalia Ginzburg

Natalia Ginzburg (née Levi) was an Italian author whose work explored family relationships, politics during and after the Fascist years and World War II, and philosophy. She wrote novels, short stories and essays, for which she received the Strega Prize and Bagutta Prize. Most of her works were also translated into English and published in the United Kingdom and United States. An activist, for a time in the 1930s she belonged to the Italian Communist Party. Şevket Süreyya Aydemir

Şevket Süreyya Aydemir was a Turkish writer, intellectual, economist, historian, and one of the founders, publisher and a key theorist of Kadro ("Cadre"), an influential left-wing political journal published in Turkey from 1932 to 1934.

Aydemir was a prolific writer. Levé was self-taught as an artist and studied business at the elite École supérieure des sciences économiques et commerciales. He began painting in 1991. Sándor Márai (originally Sándor Károly Henrik Grosschmied de Mára) was a Hungarian writer and journalist.
He was born in the city of Kassa in Austria-Hungary (now Košice in Slovakia) to an old family of Saxon origin who had mixed with magyars through the centuries.
