I was born and I currently live in a small Eastern-Europe country - Estonia.
A big part of me is Estonia's magical nature that still keeps old fairy tales alive and people that are stubborn, innovative, and creative - all thanks to rather difficult history.
I grew up with a lot of books. Some of them were rare and expensive, so my parents prohibited me to touch them (also, just in case, to even look at them for very long), making sure I was curious and completely hooked on books from a very early age.
The base of my education is languages - which is more or less a given if one's native language is spoken by only about a million people.
I have always been somewhat fascinated by beliefs, mythology, magic, and superstitions, so I chose to learn sc

Aastatel 1974-85 õppis Tallinna 32. Keskkoolis, 1985-91 Tallinna Pedagoogilises Instituudis ning täiendas end Greifswaldi, Viini ja Tampere ülikoolis. 1994. aasta kevadel kaitses magistritööd teemal „August Gailiti romaani „Toomas Nipernaadi” lugemismudelid”. Aastatel 1991-2000 oli J. Vaiksoo Tallinna Pedagoogikaülikooli eesti kirjanduse õppetooli õppejõud ja tegeles eesti kirjanduse ajaloo uurimisega.
