Ellie White
Ellie White has been trying really hard since 1986. She holds an MFA from Old Dominion University. Her volume of work includes poetry, creative nonfiction, and the comic strip “Uterus & Ellie.” Ellie’s writing has appeared in Painted Bride Quarterly, Breakwater Review, The Columbia Review, and many other journals. She has published two other poetry chapbooks, Requiem for a Doll (ELJ Publications, 2015) and Drift (dancing girl press, 2019), as well as a hybrid memoir, and for too long after (Unsolicited Press, 2019). Her work has won an Academy of American Poets College Poetry Prize, a Best of the Net nomination, two Pushcart Prize nominations, and was a finalist for the Meridian Short Prose Prize. Emily R. Wilson (b. 1971) is a Professor in the Department of Classical Studies and Chair of the Program in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory. She has a BA from Oxford in Classics, an M. Phil., also from Oxford, in English Literature (1500-1660), and a Ph.D. from Yale in Classics and Comparative Literature. Hetland studied fine arts at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA 2009) and comics at The Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont (MFA 2011). She is now back at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as an adjoint Professor, where she mostly lectures about cartooning and comics writing.
