Dan was born in Detroit and grew up in and around Detroit, attending the former East Detroit High School (Go ☘️ Shamrocks); Wayne State University downtown; and later completing his undergrad at Southern New Hampshire University. He finished half of a two-year MFA in creative writing before his VA education benefits finally winked out.
He has worked as a color timer and processor in an automated photo lab; as a stock chaser in a Chrysler stamping plant; and as a warehouse rat on 100-degree summer days. He spent seven years on active U.S. Army duty, mostly as a long-duration undercover Military Police Investigator, serving five years in Germany in two trips.

Lazarus has been publishing technical articles and opinion pieces in various magazines since 1989. “The Con” was his first novel, drawing from his international business travels across five continents. A native of Detroit and graduate from the University of Michigan, he now lives in San Diego with his wife, three children, and occasionally a cat. Anne M Kennedy is a writer of historical mystery thrillers set in Baku, Azerbaijan. The City of Winds is a series of five novels that span the years 1890 – 1920. The first novel, The Baku Inheritance, was published in October 2024. Anne grew up in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. She trained as a teacher of History at Homerton College, Cambridge and accepted her first teaching post in Norfolk. She obtained a Bachelor of Education in History, an MSc in Computer Science, and an MA in English Literature with several modules in creative writing.
